About Greg

Elect Greg Hartmann Hamilton County CommissionerGreg Hartmann has served as Hamilton County Clerk of Courts since February of 2003. Technological advancement, cost savings and outstanding customer service continue to be the primary focus of his administration. As Clerk of Courts, Greg Hartmann manages $130,000,000 in operations and oversees 320 employees. If the Clerk's office were a private business, it would be the 44th largest business in the Cincinnati area according to the Cincinnati Business Courier's 2006 list of the 100 largest corporations in Cincinnati.

Greg has earned a national reputation for modernizing the office and making it more accountable to taxpayers. The latest example is the instant notification program created by the Clerk of Courts office. This joint project with the Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services ensures that updates are provided to JFS whenever a Hamilton County foster parent is in contact with our justice system. This is a true victory for the safety and security of our foster children.

Through careful fiscal management, Greg has returned over $1.3 million to county taxpayers. He has also been featured in dozens of news accounts for his groundbreaking work in protecting Ohioans from identity theft.

Greg Hartmann began his legal career in Cincinnati in 1999, when he joined the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office. As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Greg prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases including many violent felonies. Prior to his service as an Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor, he was an attorney in private practice focused on litigation. Greg's early private sector experience includes time as a manager of west coast operations for Airline Distribution Services, Inc.

Greg has also served as executive director of the Hamilton County Republican Party and on the Board of Trustees of Main Street Ventures, a non-profit business incubator promoting rapid growth enterprises in Over-the-Rhine. Greg devotes much of his time to community causes such as the Catholic Inner City Schools Initiative, where he serves as a Team Captain, and on the Cincinnati Community Action Now (C.A.N.) Commission. Additionally, Greg has served as a student mentor with the Ohio Reads Program. He is a member of the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Cincinnati Bar Association and the Hamilton County Farm Bureau. Greg was recognized as one of Cincinnati's top 40 business leaders under the age of 40 by the Business Courier.

Greg Hartmann is a graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. In 1997, he graduated with honors from Pepperdine University School of Law. He is married and lives in Hyde Park with his wife and five children.
